So what is this thing you're doing?

Hey all, thanks for tuning in here at the blog, and thank you for wanting to be part of this event. This event is coming together better than I anticipated, which is good news .I have a couple BIG sponsors already confirmed and the list of bands is growing exponentially everyday. Without giving away too much info, there has never been a event like this one in Phoenix, and I really think it will do well with your help in spreading the word about it. I have tentatively planned on it happening  October 4th, 5th, and 6th, provided all the venues are available that weekend. There is LOTS of time to promote the event, and I will make sure you all have the info you need to answer any questions people may ask.

Here's the breakdown of the event:

   1) It's a 3 night event, at three venues. There will be 5 bands each night, at each venue. One of these bands each night will likely be an out-of-town (OOT) band (to be determined). I should have a total of 45 bands over the three nights, which is basically fucking awesome.

   2)  You and your band will get in free for that night only (edited as of 2/24/13), obviously, for playing the event. There will be NO guestlist for local bands, and OOT bands will get 2 guest list spots. I really think it's fair, so don't ask for guest list spots if you're local. The answer will be NO. I am going to try my ass off to make sure each local band gets $50 for being there, although, that has not been confirmed with each venue yet.

3)Here's the part you can all breathe a sigh of relief for - PRE-SALES ARE NOT MANDATORY! THIS IS NOT P2P BECAUSE P2P IS HORSESHIT. Anyway, if you WANT to sell pre-sales, I will make them available to you, just ask. If you sell 10, awesome. If you sell 0, that's fine too. If you sell 100, I will love you forever. I will, however, ask that you distribute some flyers around town at your leisure to spread the word. I'm putting a TON of work into this event to get it happening. The least you can do is help get people to see your band, and other bands. I'll even provide the flyers, so there. I am personally shelling out over $2000 of my own money to make this event happen. You spending a few minutes in a car dropping off flyers shouldn't be a big deal. And by 'distribute' I don't mean throw all the flyers in a dumpster.

4)If you have specific time slot requirements, I will do my absolute 100% best to accommodate every band. As soon as I have confirmations from all the venues, and this event is 100% green-lighted, I can start arranging bands. I'll ask after that has happened.

5)Band members will get a special wristband I am having made just for this event. This wristband will get you into the venue you are playing for that night only. Sorry, this had to be changed as of 2-24-13.

   6) There is another part of this event that I have left out for now because it is not 100% yet (i'm at about 95% sure though), but if you think about what happens the last weekend of May every year in a bordering state of ours, you might figure out what the "PRB" stands for.

The individual venues I'm working with may choose to charge a cover. This is obviously outside of my control. They have a business to run too. I am trying to book venues that I know WILL NOT charge a cover as part of this event. I will be making and selling 3-day laminate passes for this event, price yet to be determined. A total of only 200 passes will be sold. Anyone who doesn't have a pass will have to pay whatever cover the venue decides for each night, so I am going to encourage people buy the passes, for convenience. If the passes sell quickly enough, then I may order more, but 200 is a good starting point.

There will be some free shit from one of the sponsors, a raffle from local businesses, and other rad shit happening during the weekend.

So, here's the biggest question: Why am I doing this? Well, it's simple really. I love the Phoenix music scene. It has its flaws, just like every city, but ours is special. I love the bands I've gotten to know over the years and the great friends I have made. It's about time we get everyone together for a weekend and just hang out, trade business cards and enjoy the scene that we're part of. There's a lot of animosity between some bands/genres, but the more we work together, the better we can make this town, as a whole. I care about my city, and all I have ever wanted is to treat people right, and get the same in return. This is a great way to do it, in my opinion.

Like I said, not all the details are 100% yet, but I'm working on it, and I sincerely thank you for your interest in this event. We can't have an awesome weekend without the bands that make it possible.

More deets as they come up. if you have any questions/concerns/suggestions, please tell me at phxprb@gmail.com. I'm open to everything. Thanks!
