The major details.....

So, it dawned on me that I should probably update you on exactly what this event is, and some of the more important details. I'm more than sure we have some new viewers here who may feel a bit in the dark. It also occurred to me (after re-reading some of my previous posts) that I should clarify this is not just a band/show event. I'm hoping the usage of the word "bowling" in the title should suffice, but these days, it doesn't pay to be vague, or assumptive.

I'll use a bullet list, because they make me feel important:
  • What: a 3 day long bowling tournament/music fest featuring 45 bands, most of which are from right here in the Phoenix area.
  • Where: the venues for shows announced June 1st, but they are all in close proximity of one another. The bowling tourney will be at AMF Tempe Village Lanes, (4407 S Rural Rd, Tempe)
  • Who: Anyone and everyone. Bowling teams are limited to 30 total teams, because of space limitations at the alley.
  • When: October 4th-6th 2013. Bowling tourney will be on those Saturday/Sunday afternoons, so that as many people can participate as possible. The shows will start at 8pm(ish) at each venue, and go til close.
  • How much: For the shows, there will be three-day passes for sale for between $25-$30(depending on the bands I get booked). These passes will grant you access to any of the three venues, on any of the three days. These passes DO NOT give anyone access to bowling in the tournament. Bands, and myself, will also be selling individual night tickets for $7.
  • How much for bowling: In order to make a decent enough prize pot, and to cover the bowling alley's costs, a fee of $150 per 4 person team will be required for the tournament. I really wish I could make it lower, but this is just how  it has to be. If ya think about it, $37.50 per person gets you all your games, shoes, and possibly, a HUGE prize (I'll announce those later too). Punk Rock Bowling in Vegas is $300 per team, in perspective. And, how fun would it be to bowl with your friends (who may or not be in bands here), and then go see a sweet show later with super awesome music? Yeah, I know. It's prettttty sweet.

Questions? Yes, you over there.

"How do we sign up for bowling?"

I'll be working with KUKQ to arrange on-site broadcasting locations around the valley where you can sign up, and I'll also be taking registrations online, likely through the email address phxprb@gmail.com.  Yes, you  over there, with the see-through blouse.

"Where do we purchase the three day passes/tickets?"

Again, I'll be bringing some to KUKQ remotes this summer, and I'll be advertising where I will be and carry some passes with me to sell. And yes, I'll be able to take your credit/debit card. Cash is cool too. KUKQ as well as the other sponsors may give some away too, so keep up on their social medias to find out how. The participating bands will also have single night passes for $7 for each venue, and you'll be able to buy at the door too, night of the shows. You, in the back. What's your question?

"Why doesn't Whoopi Goldberg have eyebrows??"

Don't know. That answer has eluded scientists for years. Next question!!

"What bands are playing?"

A bunch of ska and punk bands. I'll make an easy-to-read breakdown of who is playing where and when, as soon as it is finalized.  I'm going to try to keep it very diverse at each show, just so you're not hearing 5 ska bands in one place all night. The idea is to promote synergy in our music community.

"Will any BIG bands be playing?"

Maybe, kinda depends on ticket sales and band availability. I hadn't planned on it this year, for financial reasons. It's the first time this has ever been done here, and I'm totally green to doing something of this magnitude, so I wanted to keep it small this year, learn a bunch of things, and make the next one better.

"I have a band. Can we play?"

Of course! See the blog post here for how you can enter your band into the mix.

"I'm awful at bowling. What do I do?"

This blog post here outlines a 16 week league that you can join to get your chops up.

"Will there be any vendors or free stuff?"

Yes. I know of one local business that is raffling off a brand new computer. Not a shitty one, either. Like a seriously legit gaming machine, worth at least $500-$600. Pabst Blue Ribbon will have hot swag girls giving out free shit at all the venues, all three nights. So there's that. Also, KUKQ and I will be teaming up for online giveaways and on-air giveaways and shit too, so make sure you are following them on the Twitters and Facebizzles so you don't miss out on that stuff.

Keep up here, at the blog (bookmark that shit yo!), follow us on the Twitters @PhxSkaPunkBowl to know when new blog posts are up too!

Can't wait to make all the announcements!
